What You Need to Know About Fall Hot Tub Maintenance

November 19, 2015

Category: Hot Tub

Your hot tub can last you for years if you take the time to properly maintain it. This means keeping it clean, changing the water on a regular basis, and performing the necessary maintenance during the end of the summer.

Whether you decide to use your hot tub year-round or not, you should always change the water at least every three to four months, and if you do not plan on using it during the colder months, it is definitely wise to empty your hot tub out completely. This will help to avoid any type of mold or mildew from building up in the water.

Once you have emptied all of the water from your tub you want to make sure that you thoroughly clean the inside before you add water, if you&lquo;re using it for the colder months. Generally, you want to use a non-abrasive cleaner and gently scrub the inside of your tub, making sure you clean all of the residue out. You also want to ensure that you rinse it out well, so that it‘s ready for the time you want to use it again.

In terms of your filter, keep it clean on a regular basis. If the proper cleaning is not applied to the filter it can damage your tubs pump and even make your water cloudy or foamy. Approximately once a month you should gently rinse out your filters and give them a very good cleaning. It is also wise to replace your filter every six months to a year, depending how often you use your tub.

Once you‘ve cleaned the inside of your spa, you want to clean the outside and cover as well. Not only does this make your hot tub look good, but it can also prevent mold and mildew from building up on the outside of your tub. Again, use a non-abrasive cleaner and a protector on the cover of your tub during your fall maintenance as this will add years to the covers life and save you money on having to replace it.

By taking the time to clean your tub and follow through with the fall maintenance procedures, your hot tub can provide you and your family with years of enjoyment. If you are unsure about what to use for your cleaning, feel free to contact us. We are here to help.
