Recent Study Shows Men Can Benefit Greatly From Sauna Use

There are probably more ongoing studies now concerning the benefits of a sauna than there ever have been before. This is partly true because more people are becoming proactive in enhancing their health through natural means. It is strongly believed that the sauna has the ability to create detoxification for the body and speed up its metabolism. A recent study, however, has shown that sauna bathing has the ability to create many more health benefits. It is a strong possibility as a result of the study that the sauna has the ability to reduce the risk of cardiovascular problems and may decrease life-threatening conditions. Other studies have shown that there is some great benefits to using the sauna to enhance cardiovascular health.

Results have shown that saunas can help to improve the blood circulation and reduce blood pressure, while improving heart health function overall. A recent study focused on men only between the ages of 42 to 60 years old. What the study indicated is that the males who used the sauna between four and seven times a week had the lowest risk of cardiovascular failure. The many who used the sauna four to seven times a week were discovered to have a 63% lower risk of cardiac death. They also showed a 48% lower risk of CHD death, and a 50% lower risk of CVD death. This was compared with those who had just one sauna session a week.

It was also shown that the amount of time that the males spent in the sauna would influence the results. Those who spent on an average of 11 to 19 minutes in the sauna indicated a 7% less likely chance that they would suffer from a sudden cardiac death. The men that spent over 19 minutes in the sauna gave indications of a 52% lower risk.

While this study was carried out for men only, it is said that further research will be needed to see if females would produce the same results. It has also been indicated that it would be interesting to see if studies in other populations would produce the same results. The study did not focus on the reasons why the sauna use was beneficial in regards to the protection against cardiovascular issues. It did point out other research that has shown that sauna use is able to increase the heart rate. This increase is similar to low and moderate exercise, which is known to be beneficial for heart health.
